Lymphedema Products
Patients who have been treated for breast cancer may be at risk for arm, breast, and chest swelling called lymphedema. Many will not develop this side effect, but some will. The risk of lymphedema is higher for those who have surgery with radiation therapy. Lymphedema is a build-up of lymph fluid in the fatty tissues just under your skin. It can start soon after surgery or radiation treatment, but can also begin months or even many years later.
Thelma's Boutique sells compression sleeves and bras from vendors such as Jobst, Juzo and Bellisse. You must bring a doctor's PRESCRIPTION with the recommended compression so that we can supply you with the correct product. Unfortunately many insurance companies do not provide adequate coverage for these products. Please give us a call before your visit so we can give you an accurate estimate of the cost.
